NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED (NBL), operates 5 manufacturing sites, offering world class manufacturing facilities in Isando (Johannesburg), Rosslyn (Pretoria), Westmead and Durban (KZN). It is home to some of the best-known South African tea, coffee and creamer brands, including our delicious range of much-loved savoury and sweet biscuits, and our melt-in-your-mouth snack range.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Durban Tea Factory. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of high-speed packaging equipment and other machinery. Reporting to the Engineering Foreman, your focus will be on ensuring optimal plant performance and minimizing downtime.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:

  • Perform mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Plan and execute plant shutdowns.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
  • Record maintenance data on Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (Shopware).
  • Assist with equipment commissioning and implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and promote safe working practices.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with high-speed packaging machinery.

Qualifications:

  • N3 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Test.

Additional Skills:

  • Proficient in welding (TIG & Arc) and machining (lathe, surface grinder, milling).
  • Strong fault-finding skills and knowledge of maintenance systems (CMMS).
  • Experience in plant maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Basic design and fabrication of steel structures.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport (available for shift work).
